Surat Thani is the largest province in Southern Thailand, located on the western shore of the Gulf of Thailand. Known as the "province of a thousand islands," its name translates to "City of Good People," a title bestowed by King Vajiravudh (Rama VI). While many travelers use its capital city as a transit hub, the province spans a massive 12,891 square kilometers and boasts some of Southeast Asia's most famous natural and cultural destinations.
